가상현실의 세계 오아시스의 창시자인 괴짜 천재 제임스 할리데이는 실제로 타인과 소통하는데 어려움을 겪었고, 유일한 낙은 가상현실 속의 삶이었죠

그는 자신이 가상현실 속에 숨겨둔 3개의 미션에서 우승하는 사람에게 오아시스의 소유권과 막대한 유산을 상속한다는 유언을 남기고 사망합니다.

제임스 할리데이를 선망했던 소년 웨이드 와츠가 첫 번째 수수께끼를 푸는 데 성공하자

이를 저지하기 위해 가상현실 2위 기업인 IOI(Innovative Online Industries)가 웨이드를 공격하게 되죠.

웨이드는 수단과 방법을 가리지 않고 공격하는 IOI의 위협에서 꿈과 희망의 오아시스를 지키기 위해 모든 지혜를 발휘합니다.

가난하고 배운 것 없이 오로지 오아시스 세상에서 자신의 아바타로서의 삶에 만족했던 웨이드는

거대한 조직 IOI와 싸우는 전사로 변모하게 되죠.

부모없이 자라고 자신의 이모까지 IOI에 의해 살해된 불우했던 웨이드는

억만장자인 오아시스 개발자의 미션의 열쇠를 얻기 위해 현실세계와 가상세계를 오가면서 두뇌게임을 벌이고, 결국 승자가 됩니다.

그는 1인 체제의 독자 경영이 아닌 5인 체제로 남자 3명, 여자 2명, 그 인원은 백인2명, 흑인 1명, 아시아인 2명으로 구성되는데 그 중 아시안 소년 쇼는 나이가 11살이죠.

웨이드는 인종, 성별, 연령을 초월하여 구성된 팀에 경영 전문가를 고문으로 둔 다양성의 통합 리더십을 보여주고 있습니다.

네번째 사회적 책임성

웨이드는 화요일과 목요일은 가상현실세계인 오아시스를 운영하지 않고 현실세계에서 사랑하는 사람들과 실제 시간을 보낼 것을 권고하는 정책을 발표하죠.
